The first step to perfection
Dior released a new Backstage Face and Body Primer that promises a flawless crease free complexion and 24 hours hydration. For all makeup artists primer is a must because it helps to even out the complexion, blurs imperfections and ensures a flawless makeup application. Dior’s Backstage Face and Body Primer has a light peach color and it works for all skin tones. It’s suitable for all skin types. In the best case scenario, your skin should transform into the skin of a 20 year old runway model. ? Just kidding.
Expectations vs Reality
I’ve tested Dior’s Backstage Face and Body Primer for a couple of days and even though I’m a person who doesn’t wears primers, I enjoyed this product. Dior’s Backstage primer feels very lightweight on the skin and provides a sufficient amount of moisture without feeling greasy or sticky. This makes it suitable for all skin types. However it’s not supposed to replace your daily skincare routine. It has a gel consistency that is easily absorbed into the skin. This new Backstage Primer blurs some minor imperfections a little but you will not see a dramatic change in the way your skin looks. It’s supposed to enhance the makeup application and that’s what it does. It doesn’t blur pores but it makes them appear a little bit smaller and it makes the skin very soft.
I’ve tested the primer with two of my favorite foundations: Dior’s Backstage Foundation and Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet. It looks very nice with both foundations. I find that it helps the foundation to last longer and I use less foundation on the side of my face where I was wearing the primer.
Dior’s Backstage Primer contains fragrance. It’s a very pleasant fragrance and it disappears 30 min. after application.
Dior Backstage Primer Application Tips
I find that it’s best if you use your fingers and smooth a small amount of product all over your face. You have to allow the product to absorb before applying the foundation. This usually takes app. 3-5 min for best results. It leaves the skin matte and hydrated.

Thanks for the review! I don’t wear a ton of foundation (if I wear anything at all) so it seems like this product would not be extremely useful to me.
Love the blog!

Thanks for the review and the swatches.
Thank you for your review. Is the fragrance of the primer similar to that of the Backstage Face and Body Foundation? I find this one too strong. Thank you
Hello Kate 🙂 I’m afraid yes. The fragrance of the Backstage Primer is just as strong as the Backstage Foundation. xx
Thank you, Angela.
