If you have ever wondered why Chanel’s global creative designer for makeup and color, Lucia Pica is so passionate about colors maybe you should visit her hometown Naples. It’s one of those magical places that easily seduce you and you can’t help it but just stare and soak all the culture and history and art, and last but not least be fascinated by the colors of the city and its spirit.
This season the talented Lucia Pica created one of the most unexpected Spring/Summer makeup collections for Chanel. Inspired by her hometown and definitely the most artistic city in Italy, Naples, Lucia creates a makeup collection full of gorgeous, vibrant and intense colors, a collection as passionate as Italy can be.
The main colors featured in Neapolis are yellow, green, gold, black and of course RED. The whole collection has very intense, yet sophisticated shades that are easy to wear and very classy.
LES 9 OMBRES ($70.00)
The star of the collection is the new limited edition Les 9 Ombres Palette ‘Edition N.1 Affresco’. It’s a very handy eyeshadow palette containing 9 eyeshadows both matte and shimmery. The shades are arranged in three “harmonies” inside the palette to help you build different looks but you can mix and match all the colors to create your own custom look. The palette contains two gorgeous green shades, a vintage gold color, a petrol blue and a nice combination of browns, a peachy color and a champagne shade.
Lucia’s obsession with the color RED
Red has always been featured in Lucia Pica’s collections and she has long ago admitted her obsession with this most passionate color. She was drawn to the color red ever since her childhood and Chanel’s 2018 Spring collection is just another affirmation of her most favorite color. In a recent interview Lucia says: “…red for me is such an important color. I’ve been making so many (red colors) and I’m always so surprised that I can create more and more and more, it’s crazy!”
There are some really glamorous red lip colors in this new collection and, yet everything is so incredibly well balanced and chic just as you would expect from Chanel.
Lucia’s collection this season is very universal and suitable for all seasons, not only Spring. She believes that one should wear the colors that enhance the beauty, not colors dictated by trends or seasons. ” …you don’t have to wear pink because it’s spring or gold because it’s Christmas…”
POUDRE A LEVRES ($37.00)
Poudre à Lèvres is a new lip product containing a lip balm and powder. This product offers buildable intensity and is inspired by ancient frescoes. There are three shades available.

I’ve chosen 410 Rosso Pompeiano which is a bright red color.
The lip balm is very moisturizing and feels very comfortable on the lips. I love to use the powder more as a blusher instead of using it on my lips. It looks very fresh on the cheeks. If you are not afraid to wear bright red on your eyes you can always use it as an eyeshadow. It all depends on your creativity. ?
