CHANEL HYDRA BEAUTY SKINCARE LINE REVIEW

I am a Chanel lover so I’ve tried almost all of their skincare products. In this review I will share with you the products from Chanel Hydra Beauty Skincare Line. I have tried all of them ( and not with samples since I’ve used the full-size product).

I will rate all products on a 1-10 scale (one being a bad product that I don’t recommend and 10 being an outstanding product that cannot be improved further.)

The Hydra Beauty line is one of my favorite skincare lines from Chanel. It’s a basic skincare line that is dedicated to adding moisture and hydration to your skin. The products from this line are not anti-ageing! They are supposed to moisturize. The star ingredients are two types of Camellia oil extract. The first one is OFA (oleofractioned) Camellia oil extract that provides intense plumping effect. The second one is PFA (Polyfractioned) pure Camellia oil extract. This ultra-pure Camellia extract maintains the skin’s optimal levels of moisture. The other signature ingredient of Chanel Hydra Beauty Micro Serum is blue ginger which is a well-known antioxidant.

HYDRA BEAUTY LINE

1. Chanel Hydra Beauty Micro Serum

It’s one of my most repurchased face serums. It plumps up the skin a little and it gives it a nice glow. It is suitable for: normal, normal to dry, normal to combination, dehydrated skin, and dry skin. If you have dry skin or normal to dry skin, you have to use a dedicated moisturizer on top because this product will not be enough. If you are in your early 20s and have normal skin or normal to combination skin, you can use only this product alone. It can serve as excellent makeup base as well.

Downside: Fragrance– very strong

My rating: 8 (Eight) because it gives a temporary plump to the skin which is lovely but the fragrance is too strong and makes the product not suitable for sensitive skin.

2. Chanel Hydra Beauty Cream

It’s an excellent moisturizer suitable for normal, normal to combination, normal to dry and dehydrated skin. If your skin is too dry, it will not be enough. Excellent makeup base. Feels great on the skin.

Downside: The fragrance is very strong and might be irritating if you are sensitive to fragrances or if you have sensitive skin.

My rating: 7 (Seven) because of the amount of fragrance. It is too strong and this makes the product not suitable for sensitive skin.

3. Chanel Hydra Beauty Essence Mist

Nice moisturizing essence that feels refreshing. Contains Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamins C and E, and Blue Ginger. I love this product. It is surprisingly calming and refreshing and moisturizing. This product has antioxidants so it’s very beneficial for the skin. It can be used as part of your skincare routine or it can be used during the day on top of makeup to relieve the feel of discomfort and dehydration and to refresh your makeup (if you use it on top of makeup, don’t use too much and hold the bottle app. 6 inches away/ 15 to 20 cm.)

Downside: Depends on your budget. If you have the budget, go for it. It’s an excellent product that contains anti-oxidants so it has a mild anti-ageing effect if used on a regular basis as part of your daily skincare routine. But if you are on a budget, skip it.

My rating: 7 (Seven) because I love the ingredients, and this is a very good face mist but $90 for a face mist is too much! So, it all depends on your budget. In my opinion, it is a little overpriced!

4. Chanel Hydra Beauty Micro Liquid Essence

Nice essence that can be used as a first step in your skincare routine. Feels good and boosts hydration. When I use essence I need less face cream on top. Suitable for all skin types. But this product cannot be used alone! You must use serum and/or moisturizer on top. You can skip this additional step if you are on a budget and go directly to applying Hydra beauty serum and/or Hydra Beauty cream. Unless you have the budget, this step is not necessary.

Downside: It’s pricey.

My rating: 6 (Six) because it’s quite expensive and you can skip this step.

5. Chanel Hydra Beauty Micro Crème

This cream contains little spheres (micro droplets) that contain the star ingredient in the Hydra beauty line – the Camellia Oil Extract. It is suitable for all skin types. Doesn’t feel oily. It is interesting because the micro droplets burst as you apply them to your skin. Excellent makeup base. It feels a little more nourishing than hydra beauty crème. It’s a lovely product but overall it doesn’t do more for my skin than the classic Hydra Beauty crème. So, if you want to save some cash, you can use the Hydra Beauty crème instead.

Downsides: Price and fragrance

My rating: 7 (Seven) because it’s a nice product but has fragrance.

6. Hydra Beauty Camellia Water cream

This is my favorite makeup base. The cream is white and has the tiniest light reflective particles. I have a full review on my YouTube channel. It looks beautiful applied all over the face under foundation. It brings life to the foundation and makes the skin look beautiful. I use this as a beautifying product not as skincare!

Downside: Fragrance. But if you want a beautiful elegant glow this product is beautiful used as makeup base.

My rating: 9 (Nine) because of the fragrance. Otherwise, I would rate it with a straight 10 grade for a makeup base not skincare. I love using it as a makeup base and it has the added benefits of skincare.

7. Hydra Beauty Crème Riche

This is the rich version of Hydra Beauty Crème. It’s suitable for very dry skin. It has a very thick balmy texture. My skin is normal to combination so I’ve only used this product at night in the winter and I can say that it feels very comfortable and repairing. I also use this cream on my hands in the winter when I get eczema patches or red very dry bleeding skin (sometimes it happens to me in the winter because the skin on my hands is very sensitive and quite dry). It repairs my skin within a day which is phenomenal. That’s why I think it should be good for people who have issues with dryness.

Downside: Fragrance

My rating: 9 (Nine) because it heals the eczema on my hands. I’m blown away. BUT be aware of the fragrance!!! If you have sensitive skin fragrance, it will be a deal breaker for you.

8. Hydra Beauty Gel Crème

This used to be my holy grail in my mid-20s. I was suffering from excessively oily skin and this cream would make my skin look fabulous and the makeup application was a dream. I don’t use primers because I have sensitive skin and my skin never agrees with primers. This cream was magic for me. It feels moisturizing and helps to keep my makeup in place. Suitable for oily skin and combination skin that leans more oily. Feels very light in the summer. I still use it sometimes in the summer.

Downsides: Fragrance and alcohol but I think alcohol here is not an issue if you have oily skin and you are in your 20s. I used products with alcohol a lot in my 20s. I’m happy with way my skin looks almost 15 years later. It all depends on the formulation of a product! So, don’t trust fully beauty bloggers who take out a single ingredient from a product and start analyzing it! Most bloggers/youtubers are not dermatologists and do not know how different ingredients react. So, if you’re in doubt, check with a doctor dermatologist.

My rating: 7 (Seven) – because I think it’s a good product for young people who have issue with oily skin but still want hydration and great makeup base.

9. Hydra Beauty Masque de Nuit au Camelia

Very moisturizing night mask. Contains zinc and magnesium which I find to be very beneficial. I love this mask. Suitable for all skin types. Has the signature Hydra Beauty fragrance but I find it indulging.

Downside: If you don’t like fragranced products, it’s not for you.

My rating 8 (Eight) I really like this mask. It leaves my skin hydrated. I don’t know how it’s going to work on very dry skin so that’s why I will give it 8.
