Les 4 Ombres Candeur et Seduction 364 palette was supposed to be the star of the Chanel Fall 2020 Makeup Collection. However, the whole beauty community reacted rather negatively to the intense reddish shades in it which can be quite tricky. No one seemed to be impressed by the perseverance of Lucia Pica who is the creator of the Chanel Fall 2020 Makeup Collection and global creative make-up and color director for Chanel. Once again Chanel Les 4 Ombres Candeur et Seduction # 364 palette was focused too much on Lucia Pica’s love (even bordering on more intense feelings) for the red color. Thus this controversial palette became another proof for the turning away of Chanel from the makeup traditions and the makeup style established many decades ago by Coco Chanel herself. Surprise, surprise
Chanel released sneak peeks of their Holiday 2020 Makeup Collection less than a week after the premiere of the Chanel Fall 2020 Makeup Collection. Most probably this bold move of Chanel was prompted by the negative reactions to the Chanel Les 4 Ombres Candeur et Seduction 364 palette. This development was absolutely astonishing but this is not the surprise that I am referring to because I have already provided a preview of the Chanel Holiday 2020 Makeup Collection and the most bizarre circumstances around it in this blog post of mine.
The real surprise came from the application of the Chanel Les 4 Ombres Candeur et Seduction 364 palette. I would certainly have skipped this palette if I did not have a blog but I used it for a month and I must admit that it is quite wearable and the colors do not look as scary on the eyelids as they look in the pans. Actually the colors blend effortlessly and have good lasting power even without an eye primer. I have a video on how to use this palette which you can watch HERE.
Quality and application
Chanel claim that their Les 4 Ombres Candeur et Seduction 364 palette is a multi-effect quad. It is for sure a quad since it contains four eyeshadows but, regretfully, this particular palette cannot produce multiple effects since the colors of this palette do not tally quite well. The three reddish shades look almost the same when applied on my eyelids. So, I couldn’t call these eyeshadows ‘multi-effect’.
The quality of the four shades in the Chanel Les 4 Ombres Candeur et Seduction 364 palette is very good, incl. its pigmentation. Besides, you can wear the four shades in this Chanel palette from five to seven hours. Consequently, their longevity is certainly acceptable but it is not as spectacular as should be expected from any Chanel makeup product.
One of my important tips with respect to the application of the Chanel Les 4 Ombres Candeur et Seduction 364 palette is the following: do not use all of the red shades in a single look because it could be too much. This palette looks beautiful on medium to dark skin tones. For pale skin tones like mine you need to be very light-handed.
My verdict
Overall the Chanel Les 4 Ombres Candeur et Seduction 364 palette is definitely an extravagant palette and it is most suitable for Chanel lovers and collectors.
