The Summer. The Sunscreen. The Skincare
When someone says “summer” I always picture myself at the beach holding a glass of fresh tropical juice and enjoying a mesmerizing sunset. Well, that’s in my dreams. ? The reality is a tiny bit less beautiful: me with my usual workload trying to survive the Italian heat waves and browsing the stores to find the best possible sunscreen that will work with my skincare without making me look like a greasy disco ball.
But on the bright side, sometimes I find real gemstones like the Guerlain Abeille Royale Skin Defense Youth Protection SPF 50/ PA++++ This turned out to be a brilliant multitasker for my skin. It’s a sunscreen with the benefits of a skincare product from the premium Abeille Royale skincare line developed by Guerlain. Without further ado let’s get straight to the point.
Why I love it
Guerlain Abeille Royale Skin Defense Youth Protection is a 2 in 1 product. It has the highest possible sun protection with an SPF 50 and PA++++ This sunscreen protects the skin against damage caused by four light sources: UVA (including long UVA rays), UVB, blue light and infrared light. Since this is part of the famous Abeille Royale skincare line, this sunscreen has the added benefits of a luxurious anti-ageing cream that fights wrinkles and helps to restore the skin’s firmness.
Abeille Royale Skin Defense sunblock contains a blend of Ouessant Island honey, New Zealand clover honey, Corsican honey, Moroccan Euphorbia honey and French royal jelly exclusive to Guerlain and harvested in France.
Needless to say, I use this product instead of my skincare in the morning if I’m going to go out in the sun. However, don’t forget to treat this product primarily as a sunscreen and if you’re planning to spend half of the day at home don’t forget that you should reapply it right before going out in the sun. Another option is to use your regular skincare in the morning and apply Abeille Royale Skin Defense sunscreen right before going out.
For who it is suitable
Anyone who wants anti-aging skincare product and the highest SPF protection will enjoy this product. It’s suitable for all skin types except oily skin.
Finish & Texture:
Guerlain’s Abeille Royale Skin Defense sunblock has a luxurious creamy texture that has very pale cream color. It blurs pores and imperfections a little and it doesn’t leave any white cast. It feels very moisturizing and it has a glowy finish. It’s glowy, not oily which is something that I truly appreciate. Even though I have normal to combination skin this product does not make my skin oily.
Fragrance – fresh and airy honeyed scent
Like most high-end cosmetics this sunscreen is fragranced. It has the signature scent of all products from the Abeille Royale skincare line. The scent was created by Thierry Wasser and it’s one the reasons why I look forward to use this product. The scent is very light and pleasant. I can feel it on my skin for approximately 10 – 15 min after application and then it quickly disappears.

Contains fragrance (For me this is a pro because the fragrance is very pleasant and adds to the experience. It a light and airy scent with honey notes and it’s a pleasure to feel it on my skin.)
